About the Role

Gradient Health builds and operates one of the world's largest medical imaging and health-data marketplaces, enabling the next generation of medical AI. Our platform handles highly sensitive healthcare data at global scale and serves AI companies and researchers around the world.

We're looking for an experienced Data Engineer to help design, build, and operate the data systems that power this platform. This is a high-impact role: you'll work on large, complex datasets, design scalable pipelines, and help ensure that sensitive medical data is processed securely, compliantly, and efficiently.

What We're Looking For

Core Focus:

• Working extensively with sensitive healthcare data, including de-identification and data processing
• Building scalable data processing pipelines for large, image-heavy datasets
• Working with large amounts of data
• Using distributed computing (Google Cloud)
• Building and maintaining systems that scale (App Engine, Cloud Functions)

Technical Skills:

• Cloud experience with Google Cloud, AWS or Azure (bonus for GCP experience)
• Strong Python and SQL experience
• Experience with Apache Beam (or similar e.g. Spark, Flink, Dataflow)
• Building and training models using standard frameworks
• Experience deploying ML models in production
• Solid understanding of Linux systems
• Version control and CI/CD using Github and Github Actions
• Familiarity working with image datasets

Bonus Experience

• Healthcare space, particularly with health data
• Working with medical data formats — namely DICOM and EHR data
• Working with healthcare compliance frameworks (namely HIPAA)
• Experience building systems where security and privacy are first-class concerns

Ideal Years of Experience and Education

• BSc or BEng in computer science or related field
• 4+ years industry experience
